br=brass, bz=bronze, Cu=copper, Sn=tin, Al=aluminium, Zn=zinc
"|" stands for
a line break. If this is in the outer legend, it indicates the
lettering is "upside down" with
respect to the earlier lettering
"=" indicates the following data is in the field
I have those marked with an asterisk.
Items illustrated without "*" are from
rubbings or photocopies.
If you can supply any missing illustrations, please do so.
Information, courtesy of
Neil B. Todd -
Dublin Tavern Tokens of the Latter Half of the 19th Century
Thanks also to A. Cunningham, G. Oddie & Ian Whyte for rubbings and images.
"-" indicates not in Todd
"X" indicates in Todd, but no number allocated because
he wasn't sure if it was Co. Dublin.
With thanks to Neil B. Todd for permission to use his listing. There is more information in Todd than shown here. Rev. Rice is reputed to have over 100 Parkes pieces not listed in Todd!
Note that I have no pieces with JCP below the bust - they are all ICP and I only have one with stops between I.C.P - Todd 117.
Superscripted letters are usually listed in lower case. Any dots, lines etc below superscripted letters are not shown. Thus St. indicates a dot after St and not an indication of a dot below the t. Although the D (for penny) is usually superscripted or above the value, I have simply shown this after the value.
These were the first tokens I scanned in - when I only had a small hard disc drive. To save space, I didn't scan in the other "common" side ie with Queen Victoria or Parkes. Generally, the pieces I have correspond with N.B.Todd's description, although I am not always certain of some of the dies, due to wear, ignorance etc. One day I might do the other sides!
